Exaltation

A planet in exaltation has gained power through struggle or conflict. It has the same power as a planet in rulership yet it carries a sense that it may be challenged or confronted and therefore always has to be well prepared. Exalted planets may have a touch of paranoia about them, a feeling that they need to keep ahead of the crowd.

Herb Elliot.
25 Feb 1938 , 11:45pm , Perth WA

In 1958 Herbert James Elliott became the youngest athlete to break the four-minute mile. Later that year he ran a world-record time, of 3:54.5, in Dublin and he won the mile and 880 yards events at the Cardiff Empire Games. After further wins and world records Elliott retired in 1961 never having been beaten over a mile or 1500m.

In 1972 he returned the 1968 French Presidents' prize in protest against French nuclear testing in the Pacific.

Herb has Venus in the 4th H in exaltation in Pisces. It rules his 5th & 6th Houses and is conjunct the Sun. Its angular position gives it the dynamic power to achieve his goals. He achieved his greatest achievments on the overseas.

The Mars in rulership would have given him the speed and the drive to win.

Task

Think of an area in your life at which you excel at but only if you keep up with everything. Maybe you are respected in your work but that if you do not do the extra work or reading at home or keep your "finger on the pulse" then you could be challenged. This, then, is he area of your life whee you are exalted.
