the dragonfly mural story |
|||
In the summer of 2004 I spotted a wall by a newly created eco pool at a friends house and declared that it was perfect to create a mural on. Michelle and David, the owners of this wall responded with a similar thought, having recently collected a box of tiles at a garage sale. Aha!!! Finally by July we found the moment to begin. With dragonfly's as the central theme a design was quickly sketched. The collection of recycled tiles and mirror was not quite enough, colourwise, so we painted some of Michelle's old glass sheets with left over paint from the shed. Now we had lots of colours. There is something quite wonderful about creating with what you can lay your hands on. This became a regular Monday event for near on 4 months, full of creative play as we shared our thoughts, our silences and ate delicious lunches. Of course Michelle's pregnancy gave us a definite deadline.
